Types of Wine
Wine is basically an intoxicating drink which is manufactured by the fermentation of the fruits juices especially grapes. Winemakers use hundreds of different varieties of grape to make different types of wine.
The kinds of grapes which are used in the making of wine are the most significant feature in the taste of the wine. Basically, wine is classified into Red wine or White wine but the classification of wine also depends on the region such as German wine, Australian wine, California wine etc.
Types of Wine
There are various varieties of grapes which produces different types of red or white wine which is manufactured in various regions of the world. They are:-
Chardonnay
This type of grape is generally dry white wine which is mostly purchased by the people in all over the world. It is grown in every wine manufacturing region of the world. It is generally ripened in oak barrels and the wine is available in various powerful flavors and fragrances. This type of wine usually has a fruity temperament along with buttery and vanilla features.
Grenache
This is the second most variety of grapes which is planted in all over the world. It comes in sweet taste and does not contain a lot of temperament until it is vinified. This variety of grape is mainly grown in hot and drought regions.
Pinot Blanc
It creates a fruity dry white wine which is soft in drinking and is compared with Chardonnays. This variety contains traces of spice and apple and is also very high in acidity.
Pinot Noir
This variety of grape is mainly grown in Burgundy region of France . This grape variety is very hard to grow and if it is grown properly, they can be turned into a wine which contains the taste of raspberries, black cherries and mint.
Semillon
This is one of the varieties of white grapes that contain peachy roundness and low acidity. It can be manufactured in combination with other wines like Sauvignon Blanc. It is not very costly and contains a great price for most of the wine regions.
Zinfandel
This variety of grape has its origin in Europe but it is refined primarily in California . It is a very popular drink among foreigners and Americans.
Cabernet Sauvignon
This is considered as the most prominent variety of grape for the manufacture of red wines. It is mainly grown in Bordeaux in France but also grown in major wine making region like Napa Valley in California .
Merlot
This is also one of the famous varieties of grape which contains more greenery and is less tannic. It is full-bodied with essences of plum, cherry and chocolate. Merlot can be grown in combination with St. Emilion, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pomerol.
