Bible and Wine

The word ‘wine’ in the Bible is a general term. Sometimes, it refers to alcoholicbeverages and sometimes it refers to grape juice. There are many rhymes that verify that the term ‘wine’ refers to fresh grape juice which is the fruit of the vine.

The following context will explain when ‘wine’ means alcoholic beverages such as:-

In these cases, God confers the terrible effects of it and advice against it. For example, Verse 21, ‘and he drank of the wine, and was drunken’ and Ge.9, ‘Noah’s experienceafter the Flood’ noticeably means alcoholic beverage. Wine is considered to be a scoffer which is a powerful drink and the person who consumes it is not regarded as sensible.

Intoxicating wine is considered as unreliable. The person should not drink it in excess as it can harm the body of the person. For some people, only little quantity affects the body while the other person can consume more quantity of wine at a time without having any effect on the body. The similar person will respond to wine in a different way which varies on the consumption of food one takes.

The Bible has plenty to articulate about wine. The grapevine and its main produce known as wine is declared as any other plant. In his book, he wrote about the plantation of a winery and describe about the making of wine. He was attributed as the first person to plant a winery.

There are three categorizations of people described in the Bible and particular directions given to them concerning the use of alcoholic beverages. Firstly, one should have the spiritual leaders, who were informed to refrain. Secondly, one should have the worldly powers, who were informed to abstain. Thirdly, one should have bishops who have not given to wine. This indicates if the person has more powers, he will get closer to God and away from intoxicating beverages.

To know the concept of intoxicating drinks in the Bible, one should know the basic terms which are used in the book such as the expression, ‘Woes of Alcohol’ involves babbling, redness of eyes, mouth control problems, contentions, wounds, spouse problems, poverty and addiction problems.

The main principal that is followed to get away from alcohol is to get closer to God. Holy Spirit is a better cure for carnality as compared to legalism. The water is converted into wine by Jesus at the marriage feast.
